Dessicants

Dessicants come in a wide variety of options, the most common being dessicants in a packet form. These type of dessicants are easily placed in a riker box underneath the cotton and the slice on top to help keep the moisture away from the slice.
Dessicants are usually rechargeable, which is very helpful., and cuts costs. Keep in mind that you will need to check them from time to time to see if they need to be recharged.

You can also purchase oxygen inhibitors, which help remove the oxygen from the air as well. You will need to research the type that is best for your application.

We use an orange dessicant that we purchase online through Ebay from seller silicadesiccants . These dessicant beads are orange in color and change to green when they have absorbed moisture. You then put them in the oven at 200 degrees in a thn layer for 2-3 hours on a cookie sheet and they will turn orange again, allowing them to be reused. We have found this to be the best option for dessicant beads.
